My work for Becoming moved across graphic design, photography, and image-making. I designed the issue’s cover and conceptualized the butterfly symbol as a representation of transformation and breaking beyond the identities constructed for us, carrying it into the volume’s visual identity and launch graphic. I also designed several spreads throughout the publication and created a short-form video from one of the issue’s shoots.

I photographed three of the issue’s shoots, with my images appearing throughout the printed magazine and across Rowdy’s digital platforms. I also edited imagery across the volume, approaching some photographs through color and lighting adjustments while transforming others more heavily through compositing and graphic manipulation. This included building the dollhouse imagery and creating the pig-headed figure, using photo editing as another opportunity to extend the ideas behind each shoot beyond what was captured in camera.
